Nations League: After the clean away win over San Marino, Albania aims to keep top spot in the group
Rolando Maran’s Albania did its duty away from home and picked up another win in the Nations League. The Red and Blacks beat San Marino 3-0, in a match dominated from start to finish, also keeping a clean sheet.
Albania found the first goal in the 21st minute. After a corner kick, Rey Manaj deflected the ball and Anis Mehmeti was in the right place to score, celebrating his first goal with the senior national team.
Only six minutes later came the doubling of the lead. Manaj tried from a free kick, the home goalkeeper punched the ball away, but Myrto Uzuni took advantage of the rebound and sent the ball into the net.
After the break, the Red and Blacks continued to control the game and in the 65th minute came the third goal. Rey Manaj scored after a move inside the area, sealing the 3-0 victory.
Three more points for Albania, which after the 2-0 success over Belarus moves to 6 points after two matches and takes a very good position in the race for the top of the group.
All the more so after the goalless draw between Finland and Belarus, a result that gives the Red and Blacks the chance to break away at the top.
Now the only direct rival remains Finland, against whom the Red and Blacks have their next match, decisive for first place and further qualification.
