29 Years After Diana’s Death, Revealed What Charles Demanded at Her Funeral

New behind-the-scenes details from Princess Diana’s funeral have come to light, 29 years after her death.

Charles Spencer, Diana’s brother, has made strong claims about King Charles III in his upcoming book, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.”

According to Spencer, the then Prince Charles insisted on walking behind Diana’s coffin during the funeral procession, despite the couple having divorced a year earlier.

“Prince Charles was insistent that he wanted to do this,” Spencer writes, according to the Daily Mail.

“It’s hard to understand why, given his feelings for Diana,” he adds.

Spencer says that at the time there was concern that Charles could face a harsh reaction from the crowd if he walked alone behind the coffin.

For this reason, according to him, organizers decided that Prince William and Prince Harry would also walk in the procession, together with their father and uncle Charles Spencer.

William was only 15, while Harry was 12.

Diana’s brother says he did not want the two boys to feel forced to take part in the procession.

“In the end, an ex-husband is not expected to be the chief mourner at his ex-wife’s funeral,” Spencer writes, adding that Charles was “determined” about his role.

According to his account, Spencer’s objections also led to a tense phone call from Charles.

“As I understand it, you have a problem with the organization of the funeral,” Spencer claims the then Prince of Wales told him.

He then describes a tense conversation, during which Charles allegedly erupted in anger at him.

In the end, Charles Spencer, Prince Charles, Prince Philip, William and Harry all walked behind Diana’s coffin, from Kensington Palace to Westminster Abbey.
