Bajatović: Gas deal with Russia extended until the end of the year
The Russian company Gazprom has extended its gas agreement with Serbia for another three months, until the end of the year — this was confirmed to Radio Television of Serbia by the director of Srbijagas, Dušan Bajatović, as the portal Nova.rs reported today. The news comes on the very day the current agreement and the American licence for NIS expire.
Earlier, as RTS reports, representatives of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Srbijagas and Azerbaijan’s state oil and gas company SOCAR signed the shareholders’ agreement for the joint project to build a gas-fired power plant near Niš; the acting minister of mining and energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, said the project is expected to be completed in 2030.
At the same time, Serbia expects decisions from Washington today on three important licences for the further operation of the Oil Industry of Serbia — for NIS, so that the company can continue operating; for MOL, so that final talks on buying the Russian majority stake can continue; and for JANAF, for the continuation of oil supplies to the Pančevo refinery, RTS reports.
