‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball’ becomes an album: original Broadway cast recording available for pre-order, with a message from Junior LaBeija

Fans of “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” can now officially pre-order the original Broadway cast recording: as BroadwayWorld reports, Atlantic Records has opened pre-orders for the album CATS: The Jellicle Ball (Original Broadway Cast Recording), arriving this fall. The album was recorded by the full company of the show and produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alana da Fonseca.

Anyone who pre-saves on Apple Music gets a surprise as well: the album page includes a special introductory message from ballroom culture icon Junior LaBeija, just ahead of the album’s official release.

“Cats: The Jellicle Ball” began previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on March 18, 2026 and opened officially on April 7 as Broadway’s most acclaimed musical of the season. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival, based on T.S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” was praised by The New York Times as “a bolt of joy” — a kaleidoscope of glittering spectacle, iconic music and electrifying ballroom choreography.

The album follows a triumphant awards season: the show earned nine Tony nominations and won three — Best Direction of a Musical (Zhailon Levingston & Bill Rauch), Best Choreography (Omari Wiles & Arturo Lyons) and Best Costume Design (Qween Jean), making Qween Jean the first openly trans woman to win Broadway’s highest honor in history. The production was also honored with three Drama Desk Awards, two Outer Critics Circle Awards including Outstanding Revival, and three OBIE Awards.

The recording continues Atlantic Records’ distinguished series of original Broadway cast albums, which includes milestones such as “Hamilton” (a Grammy winner with RIAA Diamond certification), “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Jagged Little Pill,” “The Notebook,” “Suffs” and “Just In Time.”
