Director of Krushevo Historical Museum resigns after ‘Makedonium’ video scandal

The director of the National Institution “Historical Museum” – Krushevo, Miha Odzhaklieski, today submitted his irrevocable resignation from the post, as the television station 24 Vesti reports. According to the outlet’s reporting, Odzhaklieski justified the decision as a personal, moral and ethical act, and as an expression of responsibility toward the institution and the public.

The resignation comes just hours after Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski demanded the dismissal of the director and the museum’s governing board, following mass reactions to the filming of a commercial music video, “Sexy Mama,” inside the “Makedonium” memorial complex in Krushevo. According to reporting by the Makfax agency, Mickoski apologized for the video and stated that institutions of this kind should not be rented out and used for such purposes.

For his part, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Sedat Sulejmani, called the case delicate and announced he would carefully examine the legal aspects of the further steps, as Racin reports. The scandal has sparked broad public debate over the protection and use of memorial spaces in the country.
