From October 3, tobacco sellers in Serbia must display the sign banning sales to minors
Sellers of cigarettes, tobacco and related products in Serbia will be required, starting October 3, 2026, to display in a visible place the new sign banning the sale of these products to minors, as BizPortal reports, based on Blic‘s reporting.
Under the new regulation, the sign must be placed so that customers can clearly notice it — on the wall, near the cash register, above the register or above the sales counter. If a point of sale has more than one humidor, the sign must be placed on each of them, while the minimum permitted size is 210 by 300 millimeters.
The sign’s appearance and content are defined by the regulation: on a yellow background, above the prohibition sign, the warning “Zabranjena prodaja duvanskih i srodnih proizvoda maloletnim licima” (“Sale of tobacco and related products to minors is prohibited”) must stand; below it a warning that smoking and the use of these products damage health, together with the names of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Health. In the central part are the symbols of an open cigarette pack, an electronic cigarette and a nicotine pouch — all crossed out with the red prohibition sign.
The regulation was published in the “Službeni glasnik” (Official Gazette) on September 25, 2026 and enters into force on the eighth day after publication, i.e., on October 3. On the same day the 2006 regulation, which concerned the sign banning the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products to minors, ceases to be in effect.
