Heather Graham Reveals Details on Osgood Perkins’ New Horror Film “The Young People”

Heather Graham has given a long-awaited update on “The Young People,” the upcoming horror film from director Osgood Perkins, and her first impressions of the project are hugely enthusiastic. In an interview with ComingSoon.net, the actress spoke in superlatives about the way Perkins sees cinema, describing his visual style as “very beautiful.” She said many of his shots “look like beautiful paintings or photographs,” while she called the film’s script “truly unusual.”

Graham also revealed how she got involved in the project. It was director Nick Simon who recommended her to Perkins. According to Graham, Perkins had seen the trailer for Simon’s film and told him: “She’s going to play this role,” after which Simon contacted the actress to offer her the part. Known for her experience in the horror genre, Graham said that horror “often writes more for women than some other genres,” adding that this is precisely why she enjoys working in it.

Interestingly, Graham has not yet seen the finished film — but Nick Simon has. He praised her performance with the words “Heather is exceptionally good in ‘The Young People'” and called it, according to the actress, “Perkins’ best film.”

The film is written and directed by Perkins himself. Its cast includes Lola Tung and Nico Parker in the lead roles, alongside well-known names such as Nicole Kidman, Tatiana Maslany, Cush Jumbo, Brendan Hines, Johnny Knoxville, Lily Collias, Lexi Minetree and Heather Graham. Neon is co-financing the project with Lyrical Media and will distribute it in cinemas. Story details are still being kept secret, but Lola Tung told Variety that it is pure horror — not a horror-comedy like “The Monkey” — and described the shoot as “crazy, weird and wonderful.”

“The Young People” is expected to hit cinemas during 2026. Perkins rose to wide prominence with “Longlegs” and then “The Monkey,” quickly establishing himself as one of the most original voices in contemporary horror.
