The president of the civic movement “Solidarnost”, Goran Jesic, declared today at a press conference in Novi Pazar that the same narrative as in the ’90s prevails in Serbia today, as reported by Danas. Jesic, who is taking part in the “Evropska Srbija” coalition for the early parliamentary elections of October 25, called the upcoming parliamentary campaign “perhaps the most important in Serbia’s history”.
He recalled that 26 years have passed since the fall of “a pro-fascist and nationalist government that brought so much disaster, murder and persecution”, but stressed that 26 years later the same narrative prevails, from the same people.
Jesic said he had come to Sandžak to say clearly “that Ratko Mladić is a war criminal, that he should not have been buried in Belgrade and that his glorification is unacceptable”.
He expressed support for the vice-president of Solidarnost and candidate for deputy Edin Sadiković, who for days has been facing insults and attacks on social media; called on Bosniak and other parties to condemn the attacks and on the prosecution to react; and said the goal is “to live in a European Serbia, to build a European society based on the rule of institutions”.
