Kasidiaris prepares a new party after release: “Alliance of Greeks” expected

Ilias Kasidiaris, former spokesman and MP of the far-right party Golden Dawn, was released from Domokos prison on September 15, 2026, after a 13-year sentence for leading a criminal organization — a verdict confirmed on appeal in March 2026.

Upon leaving prison, before dozens of supporters, he promised a “strong political comeback” and a “new, strong national party, like those dominating all of Europe,” and announced an online broadcast in which he would reveal the name and platform of the new formation.

Today, September 21, 2026, Greek media report that Kasidiaris is preparing a new political project, expected to be called the “Alliance of Greeks” (Symmachia Ellinon), according to materials cited by EIN Presswire.

The Greek legal changes of 2023 bar him from founding or leading a party, so he has declared he will participate as a member, not as chairman or founder, claiming he retains his political rights through the open appeal at the Supreme Court (Areios Pagos).

In the background stands the October 2020 verdict, when Golden Dawn was convicted as a criminal organization; Kasidiaris subsequently founded the “Greeks” (Hellenes) party, which the Supreme Court excluded from the ballot in the 2023 elections.
