Kos, Grlić Radman and Ibrahimović tomorrow in Morinj: tribute before the camp memorial

The EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, and Montenegro’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, will be in Morinj tomorrow, where they will lay flowers before the camp’s memorial plaque, the Montenegrin daily Pobjeda has learned unofficially, as the Verige portal reports.

According to Pobjeda’s sources, the organiser and initiator of the joint flower-laying ceremony is Minister Ibrahimović himself.

Montenegro will tomorrow host the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Berlin Process — it is precisely for this meeting that Commissioner Kos arrives in the country, Pobjeda announces. She, like Grlić Radman, will take part in the plenary session and the panel discussions together with the ministers of the Western Balkan countries, of the EU member states participating in the Process, and of the United Kingdom.

The joint laying of flowers by the Montenegrin and Croatian chief diplomats and the EU commissioner before the memorial of the Morinj camp, where civilians were held prisoner during the wars of the 1990s, is read as a gesture of regional reconciliation and as a signal of Montenegro’s commitment to European values, on the eve of the final phase of the EU accession negotiations.
