Linta Fires Back at Plenković: “Gross Lie That Serbia Committed Aggression Against Croatia”

Miodrag Linta, president of the Association of Serbs from the Region and former deputy in the Serbian parliament, has reacted harshly to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković’s speech at the UN General Assembly. According to Linta, Plenković’s claim that Serbia committed aggression against Croatia is, as he put it, a “gross lie.”

The truth is the opposite, he claims: according to Linta, Croatia carried out brutal aggression against the Serb people in Croatia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of creating an ethnically pure Croatian state, as a continuation — as he put it — of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) policy from World War II.

He recalled the genocide at the Jasenovac camp in 1941–1945, the expulsion of over 500,000 Serbs from Croatia in the 1990s, as well as the “Bljesak” operation in May 1995 and “Oluja” in August 1995, which he described as ethnic cleansing against the Serb people.

According to Linta, Serbia defends peace, stability and good neighborly relations and, as he emphasized, has never threatened Croatia. He accused Plenković of failing to condemn the mass concert of singer Thompson in Zagreb and the glorification of war criminals.

In closing, Linta called on Croatia to face the truth about the genocide against Serbs in World War II and the crimes committed in the 1990s, stressing that Serbia wants the best possible relations with Croatia, based on truth and justice.
