Nasim Haradinaj: The sooner we elect the president — Kosovo needs someone with courage who talks to America
The former vice-chairman of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization, Nasim Haradinaj, spoke about the sentencing of former KLA leaders, calling on Kosovo’s institutions to take concrete steps and not delay their response, Klan Kosova reports from its “Ora Shtatë” show.
“Today is a beginning, even though we should have spoken with more concrete deeds. Besides giving a good sign, I hope for cooperation. The time is to act,” Haradinaj told Klan Kosova, referring to today’s plenary session of the Assembly, which starts at 11:00 a.m.
He stressed that time for the appeal process is running out and that institutions must coordinate their actions. “The more they fail to coordinate, act and each take their own responsibilities with the means they have, the more they are in a way guilty of not reacting in time,” he said.
Haradinaj called on political parties to set aside clashes and political interests. “We Albanians have often reacted late until today. It is already late, let alone if we are late into the second week. I think it is time to set aside political grudges and go where it hurts all of us,” he declared.
He also spoke about the need to elect Kosovo’s president as soon as possible, saying the country needs a president who would play a more active role in relations with the United States. “We must elect the president as soon as possible, so he can also talk to America. We need a president who gets straight to the point. Who has courage, who is capable,” Haradinaj told Klan Kosova.
