Nations League: Belarus trains in secrecy ahead of Albania clash, coach Gančarenko prepares “secret tactics”

Belarus has changed its usual base of preparations ahead of the Nations League matches, including the encounter with Albania on September 26.

The squad led by Viktor Gančarenko was used to conducting training at the fields of the Belarusian Football Federation, near the House of Football.

But this time the team has moved to another facility, the “National Stadium”. And when the Belarusian coach was asked about the reason for this change, his answer was somewhat mysterious.

“Can I not answer this question? We need to create a certain atmosphere for these matches,” declared Gančarenko during the open training.

When the journalist defined it as a matter of “atmosphere”, the coach simply confirmed: “Yes.”

Without giving more details. Belarus will play four matches in Group 1 of Division C of the Nations League, two against Finland and one each against Albania and San Marino. The matches against Finland and San Marino, where Belarus is the home team, will be played on neutral ground in Budapest.

The first match of the campaign is precisely against Albania, on September 26 at “Air Albania”, while Gančarenko has earlier declared that his team aims to fight for first place in the group.

The change of the preparation base thus remains one of Belarus’s latest moves ahead of the Tirana challenge, while coach Gančarenko has preferred not to reveal more about what hides behind the decision.
