“Plan A and B” of the critical platform: document to be handed to Filipçe this week, he rejects it at press conference

A movement within the social-democratic party SDSM is accelerating efforts for internal reform. The platform “Talks for the Future at 12:05”, as Politika reports, has announced that this week it will hand party president Venko Filipçe a document with proposals for consolidating the ranks and the needed changes, warning that its next steps will depend directly on the response it receives.

MP Slavjanka Petrovska said the platform has worked out two possible scenarios, whose details were not disclosed, and stressed that there are internal party mechanisms to act even if the leadership rejects the proposal. According to Politika‘s reporting, the document will be handed to Filipçe, regardless of whether he invites the initiators to talks or not.

Igor Ivanovski shifted the focus to the leadership issue, which he described as the heart of the disagreement. According to him, talks on party renewal must begin with accepting a change of leadership, after which the membership must decide through the internal party procedure. He warned that with the current way of working, the party will not be able to win back the support needed for electoral success.

The platform’s panel was also attended by Levica MP Amar Mecinović, who called for dialogue among opposition actors toward a possible joint political appearance. On the other hand, Filipçe, at a press conference held together with the party leader, harshly rejected the platform’s demands, accused the initiators of personal interests and of distracting SDSM from criticizing the government, and openly opposed their rapprochement with Levica.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also commented on the development, saying the platform made a bad first impression with the message that citizens support the government because they have no alternative. The next key moment, as Politika reports, remains the handover of the document to Filipçe this week.
