Presley Gerber’s death: new details emerge from the investigation

New details have emerged from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office regarding the death of Presley Gerber, who passed away on September 20 at the age of 27. On September 21, the medical examiner’s office confirmed to PEOPLE that an examination of the body was scheduled to take place during the day. “The investigation is still ongoing and there is currently limited information available,” the statement said.

According to authorities, the death was pronounced at 09:45 on September 20 by emergency crews who arrived at the scene. The case is being investigated by the Santa Monica Police Department. Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, and brother of model Kaia Gerber, was at a rehabilitation center at the time of his death, according to an earlier report by the Los Angeles medical examiner.

A representative of the Crawford, Rande and Kaia Gerber family told PEOPLE: “The family asks for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.” Before his death, Presley had spoken publicly about his battles with mental health, depression and substance use. “Struggling with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with them, I think if I help even one person or a hundred people get out of that state where I once was in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he had said on the Studio 22 podcast in 2023.
