Romania and Poland scramble fighter jets after Russian attacks on Ukraine
Ukraine’s neighbours Romania and Poland scrambled military aircraft to protect their airspace following Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine.
Romania’s defence ministry said two F-18 jets belonging to the Spanish Air and Space Force, engaged in the “Enhanced Air Policing combat service,” were deployed to monitor the situation.
Poland’s armed forces said they had completed operations to ensure the safety of its airspace during the Russian attacks and that there had been “no violation.”
Poland’s Air Traffic Authority said it had temporarily suspended air operations on Wednesday at the Rzeszów and Lublin airports because of military aviation activity during the Russian attacks on Ukraine, and that they later resumed.
