‘Titanique’ Closes on Broadway Tonight: Final Performance at the St. James Theatre
Tonight, Sunday September 20, the curtain falls for the last time on “Titanique” on Broadway. The parody musical that retells the story of the Titanic through the eyes of an imaginary Céline Dion plays its final performance at the St. James Theatre, closing a six-month adventure in the heart of New York’s theater district.
The show, written by Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli and Tye Blue — who also directs — began previews on March 26, 2026 and officially opened on April 12. Initially planned as a limited engagement through July 12, its success extended the closing by more than two months, to tonight. In June, the production earned four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.
On stage through the final night are the announced stars: co-writer Marla Mindelle herself as Céline Dion, Jim Parsons as Ruth DeWitt Bukater, Deborah Cox as the “unsinkable” Molly Brown, Melissa Barrera as Rose, Frankie Grande as Victor Garber, Constantine Rousouli as Jack, John Riddle as Cal and Layton Williams — as the Iceberg. No replacements in recent weeks: tonight’s audience sees the original Broadway cast, just as on opening night.
Before the farewell, Frankie Grande spoke openly about what the closing means: the actor said he is “devastated” to say goodbye to “Titanique”, but faces the future “fully present, fully sober, fully alive” — a personal story that made the final night even more emotional for the thousands of fans who followed the show.
Although Broadway says goodnight, “Titanique”‘s journey continues: the West End production in London — winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy — plays through January, while the first North American tour has been announced for 2027. From an Off-Broadway basement to an international phenomenon: “Titanique” closes its New York chapter as one of the strangest — and most beloved — successes of the season.
