Trump’s Money in the Market: 1,152 Trades in July as Conflict-of-Interest Concerns Mount
President Donald Trump’s money managers made 1,152 stock trades in July alone, according to the latest financial disclosure released Tuesday. Among the companies traded were SpaceX and RTX (formerly Raytheon) — firms that do business with the federal government and operate in industries the administration regulates, CNN reports.
The pace amounts to around 50 transactions a day. According to a Bloomberg analysis, Trump or his managers have made more than 28,000 trades since the second inauguration in January 2025 — more than all members of the House of Representatives and the Senate combined. The trading spree included stock sales worth up to $25 million in Microsoft and Amazon, deepening concerns over potential conflicts of interest and corruption.
In stark contrast, former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama did not trade individual stocks: their portfolios relied mainly on mutual funds and U.S. Treasury bonds. Trump also refused to place his assets in a “blind trust” — meaning he can see what his managers buy and sell. His signature appears on the financial disclosure form, indicating he is aware of at least some of the positions.
Brett Bernstein, CEO of XML Financial Group, said the turnover “looks high” even by the standards of a tactical investor, but added that trading volume alone does not necessarily prove corruption.
