“Wicker” world premiere in Zurich: Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård present the romantic-fantasy comedy
Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård walked the Zurich Film Festival carpet on Monday evening for the world premiere of “Wicker,” the romantic-fantasy comedy directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, as Just Jared reports.
The film tells the story of an ostracized fisherwoman, played by Colman, who orders a husband made of wicker from the local basket weaver (Peter Dinklage). But the wicker man — played by Skarsgård — turns out more spectacular than she had ever imagined, and his spirit awakens a wave of jealousy, fascination and shocks that threatens the very foundations of village life.
Skarsgård, in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, joked about the wicker prosthetics he wore during filming: “Most male actors dream of playing Hamlet at some point in their career. I never did. My dream was always to have wicker nipples — and thanks to our wonderful directors and the brilliant Weta artists in New Zealand, the dream came true.”
Colman, for her part, called the film “one of the best and most original scripts I have read in a long time,” adding that Skarsgård in the wicker costume “gives the Wicker Man a beautiful soul.”
“Wicker” opens in select cinemas on October 23, with a wide release starting October 30; the first official trailer has already been published online. On the Zurich carpet, Colman appeared in a white outfit with her longest hair in years, while Skarsgård opted for a black suit over a white shirt.
