62 migrants found on a dinghy south of Kali Limenes, Crete

A dinghy carrying around 62 migrants was located in the sea area south of Kali Limenes in Crete, following an operation coordinated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED).

According to reports, the dinghy was spotted by an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Frontex force, about 3 nautical miles southwest of Kali Limenes.

The migrants were picked up by a Hellenic Coast Guard patrol boat and are being transferred to the port of Kali Limenes, where the prescribed registration and identification procedures are expected to follow. Weather conditions in the area are described as good — as ProtoThema reports.
