Macedonian-Born Scientist Svetlana Mojsov to Be Decorated With the “8 September” Order
Skopje, September 26, 2026 — Macedonian-born scientist Svetlana Mojsov will be decorated with the “8 September” Order, one of the highest state honors, for her extraordinary contribution to biochemistry as a world-renowned scientist and researcher.
The decoration will be bestowed by North Macedonia’s president, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, as reported by Macedonian media outlets Vreme and Nezavisen.
Professor Mojsov, together with Dr. Joel Habener and Dr. Lotte Bjerre Knudsen, has in the past two years received a series of world science awards for her research work.
Svetlana Mojsov is a professor at Rockefeller University in the United States of America. She is the daughter of Macedonian diplomat Lazar Mojsov and is of Macedonian origin.
The “8 September” Order is awarded to personalities for extraordinary achievements in various fields of social life, and the decoration of the Macedonian scientist is considered recognition of her many years of work in the service of science.
