After Vučić’s resignation, Ana Brnabić exercises the duties of president: presidential elections within three months
With Aleksandar Vučić’s resignation, the mandate of the president of Serbia ends on the day the resignation is submitted, as the Constitution provides, as Danas analyzes.
The duties of the president are taken over by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, who may exercise them for a maximum of three months, according to the newspaper Danas’s analysis.
Presidential elections must be called so that voting is held no later than three months after the end of the mandate: from the day the elections are called to voting day no fewer than 30 and no more than 60 days may pass, Istinomer recalls.
This means Serbs will go to the ballot boxes for a new president earlier than November 1 and no later than the end of December — after the October 25 parliamentary elections, Istinomer notes. Voting day must be a day off.
