Anne Hathaway completes pregnancy look with a rare bejeweled Birkin

Anne Hathaway is exploring her pregnancy style with curated, bold outfits. She confirmed in June that she is expecting her third child and, while she has been especially busy professionally this year, since April she has promoted five films, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, Mother Mary, The Odyssey, The End of Oak Street and Verity. For this period, Hathaway has worked closely with stylist Erin Walsh to shape a series of looks that highlight her baby bump.

As Harper’s Bazaar reports, at a Verity press junket in New York, Hathaway chose a black crochet maxi dress by Cult Gaia, the Kadimah style. The sleeveless dress showed off knotted crochet work, with small sheer cutouts and a stretchy fabric that hugged the body comfortably. The most striking details were the bows and fringes adorning the high neckline and hem, reminiscent of raffia. As her key accessory, the actress carried a limited-edition Hermès Birkin, the Bouclerie Moderne Casaque, made of black Chèvre Chamkila leather and decorated with multicolored beaded embroidery across the bag’s surface; Sotheby’s has valued it at around $40,000–60,000.

Hathaway completed the look with black satin sandals from the house of Roger Vivier, a special variant lacking the familiar Strass buckle on the vamp and with the heel closing in a crystal Strass cube as a surprise. She matched the look with oversized black sunglasses and diamond earrings, balancing a sophisticated style with unusual details.

The film Verity opens on October 2, and after an intensive promotional period Hathaway is expected to take a well-deserved break. According to Harper’s Bazaar, this phase of her career has produced some of the most captivating recent public pregnancy looks.
