Ayo Edebiri returns to the Emmys in a two-tone “fire and ice” gown
Ayo Edebiri returns to the 78th edition of the Emmys, nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Sydney Adamu in The Bear. She had previously won an Emmy for the same role in 2023.
As Harper’s Bazaar reports, on the red carpet Edebiri drew attention with a two-tone, layered gown: cool blue tulle at the front and fiery orange draping at the back. The V-neckline design also featured two large side ties, while the actress completed the look with metallic silver sandals. According to the same reports, last year she missed the Emmy ceremony despite two nominations due to a scheduling conflict, as she was filming a secret project in Japan while also promoting Luca Guadagnino’s drama After the Hunt.
Edebiri has quickly become one of the most prominent figures on the Emmy red carpet and has left her mark on the awards’ history. When she won her first award in 2023, she became only the third Black woman to receive an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, after Jackée Harry (1987) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (2022). Last year she also became the youngest Black woman to receive three acting Emmy nominations.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, we would not be surprised if Edebiri keeps making history in this edition too.
