Bošković in court: “I acted like all ministers before and after me” — indictment review held

Before the High Court in Podgorica, the hearing for the review of the indictment against former defense minister and DPS deputy Predrag Bošković, as well as officials Marko Drobnjak and Slobodan Filipović, was held.

The Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) contests 43 decisions by which financial funds were allocated to several NGOs and sports organizations, while special prosecutor Ivan Medojević proposed that the court confirm the indictment.

Bošković declared before the court that he acted like all ministers before and after him: “I do not contest that I signed the decisions… What is contested is whether this constitutes a criminal offense. This is the third indictment against me in five years — one was dismissed, another ended in acquittal.”

Defense lawyer Mihailo Volkov described the case as “experimental,” stressing that the same decisions are made even today by current ministers and that the Ministry of Defense has undergone numerous state inspections, including the State Audit Institution, without any irregularities found.

The SDT replied that other cases have also been formed against persons who acted in the same manner. The court will decide within the legal deadline.

The SDT had announced on July 2 that it had filed an indictment for extended abuse of office during 2018–2020, alleging damage to the budget of over 168,000 euros.
