Çlirim Haziri to MPs: our demand is clear — the law on the Specialist Chambers must be voted
For the 13th night, the “Not in My Name” protest against the Hague Special Court’s guilty verdict against KLA leaders saw the repeated demand that the amendments and supplements to the draft law on the Specialist Chambers be voted.
The protest’s organizer, Çlirim Haziri, called from Skënderbeu Square in Prishtina on Kosovo Assembly MPs to take concrete action regarding the Specialist Chambers.
He said the declaration adopted in today’s Kosovo Assembly session on the Specialist Chambers’ verdict expresses a political stance, while a law would produce concrete consequences.
“Today the people bearing the heaviest weight of this process are thousands of kilometers away from us. Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, Jakup Krasniqi, Cali and Pjetër Shala. And while they are there, we have a responsibility here: to defend the homeland, to defend our KLA. Today the Assembly adopted a declaration on that famous Hague verdict. And that declaration showed us something today: when there is will, this assembly knows how to come together. That is why, from this moment, I want to address the Kosovo Assembly MPs clearly. The declaration you adopted today expresses a stance, while the law we demand produces consequence. A declaration remains paper, while a law acts! That is why the KLA is not defended with declarations. Our KLA demands action. And our demand to you is clear: the law on the Specialist Chambers must be voted!” Haziri said.
Tonight’s protest follows today’s adoption by the Kosovo Assembly, in its session, of the declaration on the Special Court’s verdict in The Hague.
MPs said they consider “the conclusion on the existence of a joint criminal enterprise unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, demands have grown for the amendments and supplements to the draft law on the Specialist Chambers to be brought to a vote in the Assembly as soon as possible.
The “Not in My Name” protest has been held every evening in Prishtina since September 16, following the Hague verdict.
