Daryl Tofa Departs “The Outsiders” on Broadway: Final Performance as Two-Bit Mathews on October 11

Daryl Tofa, one of the original cast members of the musical “The Outsiders” — winner of the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical — will play his final Broadway performance on October 11 in the role of Keith “Two-Bit” Mathews, more than two years after creating the role on the New York stage. Playbill announced the news on September 22.

After Tofa’s final performance, Emma Pittman (Cherry Valance) will remain the only original principal cast member still playing her original role in the production.

Tofa won’t be gone for long: when SeQuoiia, who plays Dallas Winston, takes leave to appear in the New York City Center gala production of “In the Heights,” Tofa will temporarily return to “The Outsiders” to play Dallas Winston from October 24 to November 15.

Victor Carrillo Tracey also plays his final performance as Paul on October 11. The role of Two-Bit will be taken over by Derek Jordan Taylor starting October 13, while Jackson Reagin — currently playing Paul on tour — will take on the role on October 23. Joah Ditto joins the cast as a full-time swing.

“The Outsiders,” adapted from S.E. Hinton’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film, currently plays at Broadway’s Jacobs Theatre, where it opened on April 11, 2024. The musical — with a book by Adam Rapp and music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival and Justin Levine — won four Tony Awards in 2024, including Best Musical, Best Direction (Danya Taymor), Lighting Design and Sound Design. The production is currently led by Noah Pacht as Ponyboy Curtis and Caleb Mathura as Johnny Cade.
