Giants acquire QB J.J. McCarthy from Vikings after Jaxson Dart injury

The New York Giants have made a deal to bring in quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings, following the knee injury suffered by Jaxson Dart in Week 2 that is expected to keep him out for the rest of the regular season.

As the NFL reports, Minnesota will receive a fifth-round pick for 2027 in return; McCarthy was selected by the Vikings 10th overall in the 2024 Draft.

The move comes after Dart’s injury, when Jameis Winston started the last game and helped the team to a 12–7 win over the Tennessee Titans. Adding McCarthy aims to strengthen the Giants’ quarterback group and give the staffs more options during the season.

According to the NFL, this deal gives New York more depth at quarterback while Minnesota gains a future draft asset.
