Grbić Learns His European Championship Semifinal Opponent: Poland Challenges Slovenia for the Final

Slovenia has qualified for the semifinals of the Men’s European Volleyball Championship after defeating Belgium 3-0 in the quarterfinal played Wednesday evening. The Slovenians won the sets 25-18, 25-19 and 25-23, giving the Belgian side no chance.

In the semifinals, Slovenia will face Poland, coached by Serbian coach Nikola Grbić. The winner of this clash secures a place in the grand European final, while the loser will play for the bronze medal.

Slovenia’s road to the semifinals passed precisely through Serbia, whom they eliminated earlier in the tournament. Grbić, a legend of Serbian volleyball as a player, has for years been at the helm of Poland and turned the country into one of the strongest national teams in the world.

The other European semifinal will see Italy face Czechia, while the tournament’s decisive matches are expected to take place over the weekend.
