Hamza Seeks Cross-Party Backing for Specialist Chambers Bill: “This Goes Beyond One Party”
PDK leader Bedri Hamza has asked for the support of all parliamentary parties for the bill amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers.
Hamza said PDK had informed the other political subjects in advance, including LVV, LDK and the Alliance, about its initiative and had asked for their support.
“I informed them that we will proceed with this bill and I asked for their support. Their support will be shown within the procedures of the Assembly. Even today I am pleading for support for this law, because this issue goes beyond the dimensions of a political subject and of a government’s mandate,” Hamza said.
He stressed that, in his view, the issue is linked to Kosovo’s history and asked that it be treated in a way that, as he put it, “does not rewrite history”.
Hamza announced that PDK currently has 22 signatures for the initiative, while 40 signatures are needed to call an extraordinary session.
“We have 22 signatures; an extraordinary session requires 40 signatures. We must first have clear guarantees, otherwise the law, in whatever option, will be handled in the Assembly,” he stated.
The PDK leader said this initiative will remain a priority of his party and that the bill will not be withdrawn.
“We as PDK will always keep it a priority. This law, until it comes to be handled in the Assembly, will not be withdrawn. MPs must support it with a positive vote; they know whom I am referring to,” Hamza said.
He added that PDK will handle the bill at the right time, regardless of other political developments.
