Hashim Thaçi found guilty in The Hague, sentenced to 25 years in prison

Former Kosovo president Hashim Thaçi has been found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, also known as the Specialist Court.

Former Kosovo president Hashim Thaçi is criminally responsible for war crimes, the Trial Panel said.

The Trial Panel today delivered its verdict against Thaçi and his co-accused, following a trial that lasted several years.

Thaçi was found guilty of the charges for which the Trial Panel established criminal responsibility.

In this case, Thaçi faced charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, including: persecution, imprisonment, inhumane acts, torture, unlawful killing and enforced disappearance.

Today’s verdict is a first-instance judgment and the legal remedies provided by law may be exercised against it.
