“Kurti is playing LDK and PDK” — Gjini: the Alliance will not budge from its course
Alliance leader Ardian Gjini has revealed the behind-the-scenes of recent political developments in the country, disclosing that he received a message from Prime Minister Albin Kurti about a meeting on “strategic actions,” which he considers pure political play to blame the opposition.
On Klan Kosova’s “Rubikon” show, Gjini said he sees no sincerity in this invitation and stressed that the fate of the elections has remained solely in the hands of the head of government, who, according to him, is trying to manipulate the opposition parties.
“I received an SMS asking me to meet to talk about strategic actions. I see no sincerity at all, no goodwill, nothing at all — it’s a game to get to the blaming.
The Alliance cannot be blamed, because in this phase, paradoxically, we are neither the ones who call the elections nor the ones who stop the elections. We are not a force that determines the elections, but at least we refuse to budge from our course.
It has remained in the hands of one man. I’m sorry to say it, but sometimes he plays them. He played LDK, he is trying to play PDK. He’s not inventing anything — he doesn’t have goodwill toward any of the opposition parties. He wants to go to elections again,” Gjini said.
During the interview, the Alliance leader also clarified his party’s position on the post of head of state, stressing this issue is not a condition on their part.
“We do not have Ramush Haradinaj as president as a condition. It is neither Ramush Haradinaj’s nor the Alliance’s conditionality. We are not demanding this issue at any cost. We made it known earlier,” he clarified.
Gjini also touched on the Hague Special Court process and the new law, revealing he met ten days ago with leader Bedri Hamza, to whom he promised the Alliance’s support for the vote, despite the fact that as a party they have historically been against the formation of this court.
“In the Alliance we have decided to be 100% correct in this process, because of our past — we have faced similar situations when Ramush Haradinaj was twice in The Hague. We understand it as a vital process for many elements of Kosovo’s future.
I met with leader Bedri Hamza 10 days ago, before the idea for the law came, and I told him we vote for it, even though for us it’s an interesting situation to say, because the Alliance did not vote for the Special Court — we never wanted this court to be voted at all.
However, I told him we support it, even though for us it should have been completely undone. We understand the implications. These are the circumstances,” the Alliance leader, Ardian Gjini, concluded.
