Lisa Kudrow returns to the Emmys with two nominations, wearing Celine
Actress Lisa Kudrow has earned 17 Emmy nominations during her television career, including six for her iconic role as Phoebe Buffay on Friends — one of which she won in 1998. This year she has returned to the Emmy ceremony with two nominations for The Comeback: for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (as Valerie Cherish) and for Writing in a Comedy Series, where she is credited as co-writer.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Kudrow walked the carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles in a floor-length black gown with a full skirt, paired with a very short square-lapel jacket in a soft fabric — all by Celine. Her blonde hair was worn down in an elegant voluminous lob, and among accessories she wore only a ring. For the carpet photos she posed together with her son, Julian Murray Stern, dressed in a classic black suit and tie.
Kudrow had previously been nominated for the same acting award in 2006 and 2015, setting the record for the longest span between three acting nominations for the same character in the same series. In the Lead Actress category she competes against Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Elle Fanning (Margo’s Got Money Troubles) and Jean Smart (Hacks). Smart is aiming for a perfect run with four wins for the final season of Hacks, after awards won in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025.
The winners will be announced during the ceremony, and it remains to be seen whether Kudrow will add another statuette to her collection, as Harper’s Bazaar reports.
