“Not in my name”: 13th straight night of protests against the Specialist Chambers verdict
Citizens gathered again on Monday evening in Skanderbeg Square in Pristina for the “Not in my name” protest against the conviction verdict of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
This is the 13th consecutive night citizens have gathered in the square to express opposition to the verdict announced on September 16.
Monday’s protest comes on the day the Kosovo Assembly adopted a declaration on the Hague Specialist Chambers verdict.
In the declaration adopted by MPs, the Assembly deems “unacceptable the conclusion on the existence of a joint criminal enterprise.”
Alongside the protests and political reactions, calls have also grown for the amendments to the draft law related to the Specialist Chambers to be processed for review and voting in the Assembly as soon as possible.
The “Not in my name” protest began on September 16, immediately after the verdict in The Hague, and has since been held every evening in central Pristina.
Citizens joining the protest are calling for opposition to the verdict to continue through institutional and political action, as Telegrafi reports.
