Princess Catherine Makes Rare Red-Carpet Appearance in 103-Year-Old Necklace

Princess Catherine appeared on the red carpet for the world premiere of the film Digger at ODEON Luxe, Leicester Square in London, accompanied by Prince William. The couple attended the event in support of The Film and TV Charity, while the Princess drew attention with a flowing Jenny Packham gown in a deep purple shade and a three-row diamond-and-pearl necklace adorned with amethysts and a heart-shaped central pendant outlined with small diamonds.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, the amethyst necklace is the Queen Mother’s sautoir, a gift from Queen Alexandra to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (the future Queen Mother) on the occasion of her marriage to the Duke of York in 1923. This piece of British royal jewelry, 103 years old, was designed in the sautoir style of the 1920s. The Princess also wore Princess Diana’s pearl-drop earrings adorned with white diamonds, which were a 1981 wedding gift from Collingwood Jewelers.

Catherine’s look was completed by half-tied wavy hair, dark eyeshadow and glossy pink lips. Prince William appeared in an elegant tuxedo, with a double-breasted velvet jacket and bow tie. The premiere was attended by well-known figures of the film industry, including family friend Tom Cruise.
