Report: Russian presidential envoy meets U.S. envoys in New York

Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev has held talks with U.S. envoys in New York, less than a month after the talks they held in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to media reports.

Citing sources with direct knowledge, CNN reported that Dmitriev met Thursday with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, seeking to continue the dialogue on cooperation between Moscow and Washington, as well as peace efforts around the ongoing war in Ukraine.

On Friday, the Russian state news agency RIA also wrote that Dmitriev is in New York, reporting that he was seen outside a hotel in Manhattan, where he arrived with a special-forces motorcade and police vehicles.

Neither Russia nor the United States has officially confirmed the visit or the meeting.

The reported talks come as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Witkoff and Kushner had visited the Russian capital earlier this month, where they held “substantial, constructive and extremely frank” talks with Putin that lasted more than three hours, according to the Kremlin.
