Taylor Swift becomes the most awarded artist in VMA history, appearing in Tamara Ralph
Taylor Swift became the most awarded artist in MTV Video Music Awards history, reaching a record total of 31 trophies after receiving the inaugural Artist Director Honors award. On the red carpet she chose a look blending classic showgirl style with refined elements: a black high-neck bodysuit with sheer side panels, paired with an asymmetrical skirt of silver sequins hanging from the hip, accompanied by long diamond earrings and several rings.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, the dress was part of the Tamara Ralph Fall/Winter 2027 couture collection, presented in Paris in July. Swift’s landmark evening also included nine nominations, including Video of the Year and Artist of the Year; the Artist Director Honors award, as MTV described it, aims to honor artists who have expanded the possibilities of the music video and advanced the art of visual storytelling.
Swift’s record-breaking haul broke her tie with Beyoncé, who entered the ceremony with 30 awards. During the event, Swift also premiered the new video for “Patient Zero,” a song from the expanded edition Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, released Friday along with three companion tracks; the video will star Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson, with cinematography by Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezski. These details were also confirmed by Harper’s Bazaar.
