Taylor Swift plays ‘rookie’ at the Emmys in an Alexander McQueen suit

Taylor Swift appeared in a pre-recorded cameo during the Emmy ceremony as a police-force ‘rookie,’ in a Law & Order: SVU-themed sketch. She was joined by Mariska Hargitay, the Emmy presenter and her longtime friend, who placed her at the center of a scene revealing some of the evening’s surprises.

As Harper’s Bazaar reports, for this scene Swift wore a two-piece Alexander McQueen outfit: a monochrome gray wool-twill blazer with a sculpted peplum at the back and straight trousers with thin pleats. She completed the look with a striped white shirt, a thick black belt and a police badge that suited the role.

The cameo was packed with ‘Easter eggs’ and references fans are trying to decode; Swift entered the stage using the show’s terminology and helped develop the comedic scene that teased whether she would really appear at the awards ceremony. At one point her cat, named Olivia Benson, also appeared — a tribute to the SVU character.
