«The Ceiling»: cast announced for Blake Allen’s new musical — opening October 5 at Le Poisson Rouge

The full cast has been announced for “The Ceiling,” the new musical with book, music and lyrics by Blake Allen, based on the short story by Kevin Brockmeier, winner of the prestigious O. Henry Award.

The musical will have a one-night developmental presentation at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., directed by Susan Aston, director of the MFA Acting program at The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.

Leading the cast are Christine Dwyer as Melissa (known from “Wicked,” “Waitress,” “Finding Neverland” and “Maggie”), Nathaniel Hackmann as Kevin (“Back to the Future,” “Les Misérables,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Oklahoma!”), Jake Pedersen as Joshua (“Ragtime,” “Parade,” “Wicked”) and Elise Frances Daniells as Scarlett (“Barry Manilow’s Harmony”).

The company also includes Christine Arand as the Bookseller, Dared Wright, Rori Nogee as Rachel, Cory Daniel Gibson, Samantha Schiffman as Bobby and Blake Brundy as Mitch Nauman.

“The Ceiling” is a touching new musical that blends magical realism with emotional truth: as an inexplicable phenomenon descends upon their world, a man and a woman confront the growing distance between them, discovering that life’s most profound changes often pass unnoticed — until it is too late.
