Three fingers for 33 years: new mural of Novak and Srdjan Djokovic unveiled in Belgrade

BELGRADE – A new mural depicting Novak Djokovic and his father, Srdjan Djokovic, has appeared on Knjeginje Zorke street in Vračar, as Danas reports. The graffiti is dedicated to the viral video in which father and son, arms raised high, each flash three fingers — a clip that drew extraordinary attention and thousands of comments on social media during the pre-election campaign, in which the Student List is running as number 3 on the ballot.

Djokovic, the record-holder with 24 Grand Slam singles titles, recently trained at the TK Partizan courts, which he had not set foot on for 33 years. His father Srdjan was with him, and their joint photo — each holding up three fingers — was a symbolic nod to exactly those 33 years. Djokovic was also heard saying the phrase “Tri je tri” (“Three is three”), which gave the moment even more resonance.

The new mural stands right next to an older one, created last year by Andrej Josifovski, known as “Pijanista”, which referenced Djokovic’s cello-playing celebration at Wimbledon. The new work also bears the signature of the same artist, turning this corner of Vračar into a small gallery dedicated to the greatest tennis player of all time.

The Serbian ace trained in Belgrade before traveling to Beijing, where he will compete in the ATP 500 tournament held from September 30 to October 6. The new mural is expected to become another landmark for fans, just like the video that inspired it.
