Trial Date Set for Former Belgrade Police Chief Veselin Milić — Begins November 9 at the First Basic Court

The trial of former Belgrade police chief Veselin Milić has been scheduled to begin on November 9 at the First Basic Court in Belgrade — the court itself confirmed this to the N1 portal, according to Serbian media reports.

Milić is accused of two criminal offenses: failure to report a crime and its perpetrator, and forging an official document — in connection with the murder of Aleksandar Nešović (Baja) at the “27” restaurant in Belgrade’s Senjak neighborhood.

The indictment was filed by the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade. The Higher Court declared itself incompetent in this case and transferred the file to the First Basic Court, while the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office has agreed to represent the prosecution. The proceedings against Milić have been separated from those against the other defendants in the Nešović murder, who will be tried before the Higher Court.

According to the indictment, the owner of the “27” restaurant, Nenad L., is suspected of having called Milić after 11:00 p.m. on the evening of May 12 — as a policeman he knew and trusted — to report that Nešović had been killed at the restaurant, but Milić reported the incident nowhere. It is also suspected that on May 13, in the offices of the Belgrade police chief’s cabinet, he entered false data into the official note: he wrote that on May 12, 2026 he had happened to meet the defendant Saša V. at the “27” restaurant, although he had himself summoned him to come.

The Higher Prosecutor’s Office had previously dropped the charge of assisting the perpetrator after the commission of the crime.
