US embassy asks Belgrade’s Higher Prosecutor’s Office to return two “Nissan Qashqai” cars: they were used for personal comfort, not against corruption
The United States Embassy in Belgrade has asked the Belgrade Higher Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) to return two expensive “Nissan Qashqai” vehicles it had donated years ago to the Special Department for Combating Corruption (POSK) — because of misuse and breach of the donation contract, Nova.rs reports.
According to Nova.rs‘ sources, the cars were not used for the purpose for which they were donated, but for the personal comfort of VJT leaders: the head of the VJT, Nenad Stefanović, had given them to his first deputy, Miodrag “Mića” Marković — who also used his for private purposes — as well as to prosecutor Nikola Uskoković, former deputy Brankica Marić and former POSK chief Jelena Ziljkić.
After the breach was established, the Embassy contacted the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, led by Zagorka Dolovac, which reacted immediately: the two cars were donated onward to the POSK offices in Niš and Kraljevo.
There is no official confirmation of the case: neither the VJT, nor the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, nor the US Embassy answered the questions sent to them, but Nova.rs says the claims have been verified by several unofficial sources.
