Vuksanović: Montenegro Will Continue to Be a Reliable NATO Ally — Podgorica to Host Military Committee Conference in 2027
Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro (VCG), Brigadier General Miodrag Vuksanović, took part in the annual conference of the NATO Military Committee, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Ministry of Defence announced.
The conference gathered the chiefs of defence of the 32 NATO allies, the Chair of the Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Alexus Grynkewich, and the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT), Admiral Pierre Vandier.
Vuksanović stressed that Montenegro’s participation at the highest level of military decision-making confirms the country’s determination to contribute to collective security and to strengthening the Alliance’s collective deterrence. He highlighted the modernisation of the VCG, interoperability with allies, and investment in personnel and modern technology.
During the conference, participants discussed the implementation of the decisions of the NATO Summit in Ankara, accelerating the readiness of allied forces and strengthening multidimensional capabilities; views were also exchanged on further support for Ukraine.
Allied nations elected General Carsten Breuer, Chief of the German Defence Forces, as the next Chair of the Military Committee — he takes office in the summer of 2027 with a three-year mandate.
The most important announcement: in line with NATO plans, Montenegro will host the annual Military Committee conference in 2027, welcoming the Alliance’s chiefs of defence and strategic commanders.
