Why Jeremy Allen White Missed the 2026 Emmy Awards
Jeremy Allen White was absent again from the 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony, even as his acclaimed FX series, The Bear, earned eight nominations, including the one for Outstanding Comedy Series. The actor was last present in 2024, when he won the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, last year he missed the ceremony because he was attending a friend’s wedding, while this time the reason for his absence has not been made clear. This is the first time in four years that White has not been nominated in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in The Bear; he won this award in 2023 and 2024, and another nomination did not bring a win when the award went to Seth Rogen for his performance in The Studio.
The actor is also preparing for the promotion of his new dramatic film, The Social Reckoning, which will be released on October 9. At previous Emmy editions White has preferred traditional attire; in 2024 he chose a Calvin Klein tuxedo with a black jacket and silk lapels, white shirt, bow tie and patent leather loafers by Santoni, while previously he wore a Giorgio Armani suit.
Although he missed the 78th edition of the Emmys, many of his collaborators on The Bear, including Ayo Edebiri, Matty Matheson and Abby Elliott, were present at the evening’s ceremony; as Harper’s Bazaar reports, the reason for his absence this year remains unclear.
