After the “ethnic cleansing” remarks, Paunović and Dačić sing nationalist songs about Kosovo together
Serbian minister Snežana Paunović, who earlier caused widespread outrage with her statement on the “ethnic cleansing of Kosovo,” has now been filmed singing together with Ivica Dačić at a party — songs with nationalist motifs.
In the video published on Instagram, Snežana Paunović can be seen singing alongside Ivica Dačić, while a band performs in the background.
On July 11, 2026, speaking about what she would have done had she been in Slobodan Milošević’s place in 1998, Paunović said she would have “ethnically cleansed Kosovo,” writes The Geopost. She later tried to explain the statement, saying she had spoken of removing Albanians who did not feel themselves residents of the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and then tried to replace the term “ethnic cleansing” with “deportation.”
The statement drew condemnations in Serbia, Kosovo and the European Union. The European Commission said there is no place in Europe for rhetoric that justifies or promotes ethnic cleansing.
Ivica Dačić, however, came to the defense of his party colleague, saying that those who accuse her of supposedly calling for ethnic cleansing at the same time remain silent about the position of Serbs in Kosovo.
Paunović and Dačić now appear together in a new video, singing in a nationalist musical atmosphere with Serbian symbols. Given the minister’s earlier statement and Dačić’s public defense, the video has once again reopened the question of the political messages the two convey in public when it comes to Kosovo.
