After U.S. visit, PM Rama to address Albanians tomorrow from “Nënë Tereza” airport

The Prime Minister’s Office has announced that tomorrow, immediately after returning from his visit to the United States, where he attended the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, PM Edi Rama will address Albanians with a message from the press hall of Tirana International Airport “Nënë Tereza”.

According to the announcement, since today’s departure from New York’s JFK airport is still unconfirmed due to bad weather, the exact time of PM Rama’s address will be announced tomorrow morning.

“Tomorrow, immediately after returning from the visit to the United Nations, PM Edi Rama will address Albanians with a message from the press hall of ‘Nënë Tereza’ Airport. Since today’s departure from New York’s JFK airport is still unconfirmed due to bad weather, we will announce the exact time of the address tomorrow morning,” the announcement says.

The PM’s U.S. visit began with a meeting with the Albanian community in Michigan, where he announced the plan to open an Albanian consulate and stressed the priority of “Albania 2030”, and continued with important engagements in New York.

As part of this, Rama held a meeting with the Albanian community in Staten Island, where he announced that the government has begun creating the National Diaspora Register.

According to the PM, this register will serve as “a window for all those who want to invest even a little or a lot in Albania”.

He referred to the National Diaspora Strategy 2030, adopted at the recent diaspora summit, which rests on four main pillars: governance and services, diaspora dialogue and expertise, economy and innovation, and language and culture for younger generations.

Rama stressed that the most important change in the relationship with the diaspora has happened “in mindset”, turning it into a “very inclusive and organic” bond.

He praised the role of Albanian emigrants as a “great sea of energy” and stressed that Albania is no longer a country of survival, but a country of hope, where expectations have shifted from “it could be worse” to “it could be even better”.

During his stay in New York, the PM also took part in other activities with the Albanian-American community and delivered his speech at the UN General Assembly, touching on topics such as artificial intelligence, European integration and Albania’s position on the international stage.
