AI cybersecurity startup Armadin valued at over $2.5 billion after new funding round
The artificial-intelligence cybersecurity startup Armadin has raised $255.5 million in a Series B funding round, taking the company’s valuation to over $2.5 billion, as Reuters reports. With this new round, the total funding raised by the company reaches $445 million.
According to Reuters’ reporting, the round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Accel. New investors include Bain Capital Ventures and Redpoint, while existing investors Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Menlo Ventures and In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s investment arm, also took part in the round.
Armadin uses a swarm of artificial-intelligence agents that act as hackers to uncover weaknesses in protected systems — a defense designed specifically against AI-driven cyberattacks, which are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
The company’s founder and chief executive is Kevin Mandia, known as the founder of the cybersecurity firm Mandiant, which was later bought by Google.
The new funds will be used to scale the platform, for research and development, for training the artificial-intelligence systems and for expanding the sales team.
