Magistrates’ pay: SPAK widens investigations to threats against Treasury officials — ‘They threatened to remove me from my post’

“They threatened me that they would remove me from my post and start an audit if I executed the Constitutional Court’s decision” — this is how one of the Treasury branch chiefs began her testimony, questioned by SPAK as part of the ongoing investigations into the blocking of justice salaries.

Sources told TCH that this testimony is also supported by replies from the National Agency for Information Society (AKSH) sent to SPAK, listing emails between the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and other officials at the ministry from August to September, when the clash began.

For this reason, in the wake of the investigations opened on 18 September for abuse of office and failure to execute the Constitutional Court’s decisions, the case will also be registered for intimidation because of duty.

The sources said that in recent days several directors of Treasury branches in the districts have been questioned, while all those reported by judges and prosecutors — from the Minister of Finance to the Secretary General — will be questioned at the end, among them also the Director General of the Treasury, based in Tirana.
