Albania–EU Stabilization and Association Committee Convenes; DP: We Will Raise Concerns Over Corruption and Integration

The next meeting of the Albania–European Union Parliamentary Stabilization and Association Committee is taking place in Tirana today.

The Democratic Party announced that its representatives will present the opposition’s positions on issues related to corruption, crime, media freedom, human rights, the economy, tourism and the European integration process.

According to the DP, discussions with MEPs will also cover the Parliament’s role on the path to European Union membership.

The Committee holds its first session in Tirana, while on Tuesday the delegation of MEPs is expected to visit the Zvërnec area.

This visit to Zvërnec comes after the international community was alerted by citizens’ protests against the destruction of protected areas and beyond.

The repeal of the law on “Protected Areas”, already submitted as an initiative to Parliament by the Democratic Party, is a key EU demand for the integration process.

The DP emphasized that the visit will also address issues related to protected areas and its initiative to repeal the law on “Protected Areas”.
