Albanian diaspora announces rallies today in several European cities against the Hague verdict on former KLA leaders
Albanians of the diaspora have announced they will hold rallies today in several European cities in support of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and against the decision of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague to convict them, as reported by the Serbian newspaper Danas.
The rallies are being organized under the slogan “Ne u moje ime” (“Not in my name”), and invitations have been extended to Albanians in the diaspora to oppose the court’s decision and express support for the former KLA leaders. According to the organizers’ announcement, rallies have been announced in London, Oslo, Graz, Geneva, Treviso, Karlsruhe, Nuremberg, Lindau and Skopje. Other protests were also announced in the coming days, including a rally by the “Sloboda ima ime” (“Freedom has a name”) organization in Prishtina on October 1, Danas writes. The former KLA leaders — Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi — were found guilty of war crimes in Kosovo and northern Albania during 1998-1999 after the Hague proceedings.
